Foldies Stonebaked Sandwiches QSR

Brief

Foldies is a new quick-service sandwich brand from the team behind Brewski and American Pies. Their concept is simple but original: folded sandwiches with a pizza-base style bread, baked and filled on-site, and ready in just 60 seconds.

To support the launch of their first site in Manchester, Foldies needed digital signage that would do more than just display a menu. They wanted screens that would grab attention, explain their unique product, and encourage repeat visits by showcasing exciting flavour combinations and seasonal specials.

The Foldies team had a clear vision: two screens would always show the core menu, while one or two others would rotate through specials, desserts, meal deals, and sold-out items.

They also wanted the displays to automatically switch from breakfast to lunch menus at 11:30am each day—so staff could stay focused on serving customers, not managing screens.

With a defined budget and just three weeks to go-live, Foldies asked Saturn to deliver a complete solution—fast.

Solution

We started by visiting the site to understand the layout and customer journey. This helped us recommend the best screen sizes and placements to ensure maximum visibility for customers from the counter and throughout the space.

The ideal position for the displays was facing the counter. We proposed four 43” 4K LCD screens, mounted in portrait orientation with slim bezels. This would give Foldies the clean, modern look they wanted and allow for seamless content takeovers across multiple screens. The screens were chosen for their ability to run for long hours, seven days a week, without glare—ideal for a busy quick-service environment – and for their cost effectiveness, to fit with Foldies’ budget.

We also advised on power and data locations to help Foldies’ electricians prepare the space efficiently and avoid delays.

Foldies had a strong brand identity and a library of high-quality food photography, but they needed help turning these into engaging on-screen content. Our in-house design team worked closely with them to create a full suite of animated content and templates that would bring their brand to life.

 

We developed a flexible menu board design that could be easily updated with new items, and prices, and templates for showcasing products and promotions. These were designed to be flexible and visually consistent, ensuring a polished look whether displaying the breakfast menu, lunchtime specials, or limited-time offers.

To make the content more dynamic, we added subtle animations—like steaming coffee cups and gently moving ingredients—to draw the eye and make the food feel fresh and appetising. We also animated the Foldies logo to give it more presence on screen and reinforce brand recognition.

One of the key requirements was the ability to switch menus automatically at a set time each day. We used our SaturnVision platform to give Foldies this functionality without any manual input—keeping things simple for their team during busy service periods.

Once the content was created and uploaded, we provided full training on how to use SaturnVision. This gave them full control over their displays and the confidence to make updates whenever they needed to.

Result

The project was delivered on time, within budget, and ready for launch, with displays procured, installed and content created all within just a three-week period.

Foldies now has a digital signage setup that visually showcases their exciting concept. The digital menu boards help first-time customers to fully appreciate all of the flavour combinations, and meal deal options, enabling staff to focus on serving and preparing sandwiches.

The combination of high-impact visuals, and user-friendly software have meant the restaurant has achieved a strong, (and growing) following of loyal customers. It has a Google Rating of 4.6 and lots of positive feedback from customers about the QSR’s food, service and atmosphere.

Foldies is now looking at the possibility of adding window displays to the site to attract even more attention from passing footfall and increase its brand profile.

Delivering to our very tight timeframe and budget was a bit of a challenge, but Saturn took it all in their stride.
